As the Earth became a battleground between Heaven and Hell, it became clear that the humans were being influenced by the conflict. The Archangels believed that humans should evolve on their own as much as they could. As such, angels were sworn to the shadows and keep their battle out of sight. However, the influence still was there in their religions and their political structures. People who killed in the name of the angels were allowed to without consequence. The Archangels found it regrettable, but a necessary sacrifice. Occasionally angels intervened when they could bear the injustice, a blind eye was turned, but frowned upon. I don’t know how long could this charade can last.
