Successor of Ramiel:
Before the time of the Fall, Barachiel was Lucifer’s apprentice, receiving Ramiel from him. During the Fall, Lucifer spared his life nor tried to make become a Fallen Angel after defeating him. Afterwards, he came to Earth with Ramiel, where he helped trapped ghosts to move on. At some point, he relinquished Ramiel, only to be reunited when it was in Zera’s possession.
In Chapter 1, Barachiel met Uriel in a private room in Eden Night Club. Pleased by the news of two Angels helping him, Barachiel understood the nature of Hani’s ‘abilities’. However, he was immediately concerned hearing Seraph, who would aid the Saleos investigation, wielded Arakiel. He reminded Uriel about the ‘Valafar incident’, but begrudgingly, accepted Seraph in his group and returned to St. Denys.
Barachiel met Hani in Chapter 2 where he introduced her to the existence of ghosts. He followed a female ghost down to the crypt with Hani, where they watched her pass through the white light peacefully. He explained to Hani how ghosts distort the environment and why she can see them. Once returning upstairs, he welcomed Seraph’s arrival, hiding his concerns, and placed her in Zera’s room, much to Zera’s annoyance.
In SORScene_Barachiel’s Secret, he was staring into Rumon’s city lights, unsure about the Watcher Blades gathering again. Hani arrived, prompting him to make her think when discussing the effect Heaven and Hell had on Earth. He liked Hani’s sharpness, leading him to tell her about his past and how helping ghosts move on was his calling. When Hani asked him if he fully understood Angelic nature, Barachiel chuckled and didn’t answer her, returning back inside.
Barachiel likes the classics, not liking modern music. He loves a cup of tea, only breaking pouring when seriously worried. His mind is sharp and experienced enough to know when something is off. He doesn’t hide his concerns over Seraph’s posting, but accepts he had no choice to do his superior’s wishes. He is concerned about placing Ramiel and Arakiel so closely together, but wasn’t above placing Zera and Seraph in the same room. Seeing the Watcher Blades again make him nervous, leading him to be sleepless.
With Hani, he likes to push her and make her think. Even in his old age, he still gets excited seeing ghosts and finding them. He takes great pride in helping ghosts move on to the afterlife and has dedicated his mission on Earth to it.
Barachiel has a personal burden with regards to his past before the Fall. He hasn’t come to terms with Lucifer sparing him whilst countless others were either killed or corrupted. He knows the Fall changed him, but was unsure whether other Angels were aware of this effect, even millennia later. It has influenced the rest of his life, opting for small victories in life rather than grander ones.
- He can see ghosts much like Uriel and Hani, possessing a receptive enough heart to do so to detect their undercurrents.
- His original name during conceptualization was Metatron, but was changed due to people mistaking it for Megatron – An OK Blog – The Road to Ramiel Junction 2: That’s an odd name you have?
- He had brothers and sisters before the time of the Fall. He never speaks about their fate.
